Visual Processing Disorders Clinical Advisory Group – Clinical Meeting

Guest speakers: Professor John Stein Emeritus Professor of Physiology; Emeritus Fellow of Magdalen College Professor Stein’s research focuses on how vision controls movement in animals, patients with movement disorders, dyslexic children and antisocial offenders. He collaborates with neurosurgeon Professor Tipu Aziz on deep brain stimulation for movement disorders and pain, with Dr Sue Fowler on visual dyslexia, and with the Institute of Food, Brain & Behaviour on the influence of nutrition on behaviour. Find out more »BIOS Stroke and Neuro-rehabilitation CAG Study Day
Speakers in the morning will discuss stroke services including OT and medical management of stroke and also the stroke association will discuss their work. A stroke survivor will be giving an account of their experiences and there will also be a brief history of the SIG/CAG by its founder. There will also be a bring and share session for orthoptists to talk about their own services and successes. The afternoon will be an interactive workshop looking at service commissioning. BIOS vision screening CAG meeting
We hope this will be an interesting, informative day, with plenty of opportunity for lively discussion and mutual support, to enable BIOS to work towards our goal of nationwide, standardised vision screening for 4-5 year olds. Refreshments will be provided throughout the day; including tea and coffee breaks (with muffins, snacks and home baked cookies!) and a delicious hot buffet lunch.
