BIOS offers a range of membership options to suit all prospective members.
If you are qualified to be a member of BIOS, then we want you to be a member: it’s as simple as that. BIOS is for the whole orthoptic workforce, including orthoptists, orthoptic support staff and technicians and orthoptic students.

Membership of BIOS is annual and members are required to pay for a full year. New members will begin the benefits of membership on the first day of the next calendar month, with their membership running for a year at the current price from then. Payment can be made via card or BACs transfer but most of our members prefer to pay in monthly instalments via Direct Debit.
If you have any questions about becoming a member or renewing your membership, please contact our office at [email protected].
Student membership is free of charge to all students on pre-registration orthoptics courses. Once you graduate, we even throw in full membership at no charge for three months!
If you’re currently studying an Orthoptics course in the UK, find out more about graduate membership here.
