This amazing AHP team based at the Royal London Hospital has made significant strides in patient care, transforming services through innovation and collaboration. They launched a pilot MDT clinic with dieticians and psychologists for patients with sight-threatening obesity, providing a one-stop, patient-focused approach that maximises resources and helps reduce hospital visits. The team has reduced waiting lists from 24 weeks to 4 weeks by triaging neuro-ophthalmology patients to orthoptic-led clinics, improving patient experience and reducing consultant workload. They also pioneered a gold-standard clinic for Adults with learning disabilities (ALD), recognised by the CQC for promoting inclusion and addressing health inequalities. The team has significantly reduced waiting times and halved a 47% DNA rate in the ALD clinic by offering additional frequent virtual consultations and improving accessibility through dedicated communication pathways. Their commitment to teamwork, service improvement and staff wellbeing has created a compassionate and inclusive environment.
Well done to all involved!
