Wiktoria Niewiadomska is studying Vision and Strabismus MMedSci, and is currently surveying registered Orthoptists within the UK to gain their views and opinions on advising near activities alongside amblyopia therapy.
She has received ethical approval for this research.
The survey aims to capture your views on the treatment of amblyopia. Amblyopia is defined as a reduction of the visual functions in one of both eyes, due to a defect of the cortical visual development. There are various different types of amblyopia. However, this study will only focus on occlusion therapy (covering the better-seeing eye with an eyepatch).
This study will explore how clinicians advise occlusion therapy to patients, and whether clinicians advise additional activities such as near work alongside the occlusion therapy.
