The membership of BIOS is growing but we’re looking to expand our community further!

We know that the best way of reaching new members is through our existing members – you know what you value about being part of BIOS, and are perfectly placed to promote this to your colleges. A larger membership gives us more influence and a wider network of advocates to promote the orthoptic profession.

This year, we are again running our popular Member Get Member campaign. If you’re a BIOS member, for each new member that you recommend, we’ll give you a £10 gift voucher to say thanks!

How you can help

You are in a great position to tell your colleagues about the importance of the being in a professional body and what it means to you. You could mention some of our most popular benefits:

  • Liability insurance for up to £2.5 million per claim
  • Specialist legal advice, via BIOS Legal
  • Access to specialist groups offering support and advice to help you develop your career
  • Heavily discounted CPD events
  • Our fortnightly Parallel Vision newsletter
  • For UK members, you are automatically a member of the British Orthoptic Society Trade Union (BOS TU)

How the campaign works

The offer is running from now until the end of January 2022.

All BIOS members can claim a voucher for any new member who signs up to any membership category (except Student or New Graduate).

Once they’ve signed up, the new member just needs to to email us with your full name (and membership number if possible) and, once we’ve confirmed their membership, we will send both you and them a £10 Amazon voucher!

Any limits?

No! As long as they join before the end of January 2022, there is no limit to how many vouchers you can receive.

What about if I volunteer for BIOS?

You can still take part! If you’re actively involved in BIOS (eg. TU Rep or CAG steering group member) you’re likely to be our best advocates. Please do tell all your networks how you benefit from being part of BIOS!
