BIOS is hosting a series of conversations as part of phase two of our preceptorship project. Our goal? To better understand the transitional support newly qualified orthoptists need – now and in the future. First ever face to face study day for trainee and recognised ACPs/Aps in Orthoptics and Ophthalmology. Online forum for Orthoptic clinical tutors. Aim is to provide opportunity to discuss topics relevant to the provision of clinical placements for undergraduate and postgraduate orthoptic students. This forum will focus on the providing ideas and new approaches to help tutors optimise non-patient contact teaching opportunities. Agenda: 12:30-12:35- Introduction: Michael Harmsworth 12:35-12:12:45: Talk on making the most of the “empty session” 12:45-13:25 Open discussion amongst clinical tutors with opportunity to ask questions University representatives. 13:25-30: Suggestions for topics of next forum & Close meeting.

Online forum for Orthoptic Clinical Tutors. The aim of this session is to provide an opportunity to discuss topics relevant to the provision of clinical placements for undergraduate and postgraduate orthoptic students. An informal drop-in session for new graduates within their first two years of qualifying. We are all spread out across the country at different Trusts, but will have lots of shared experiences, similarities and differences in our Orthoptic roles and this is a chance for us to meet and grow our support network. Are you keen to develop your clinic teaching skills? There are limited places available for the BIOS clinical tutors’ course. The course fulfils the requirements for Lead Clinical Tutor.
