Temporary COVID-19 Memberships

We have introduced three temporary membership categories to ensure that Orthoptists practising on a temporary basis during the COVID-19 epidemic, are able to access the benefits of full membership, including trade union support and liability insurance.

  1. COVID-19 – Temporary [Non-Member] – available to any recently de-registered Orthoptist on the COVID-19 Temporary Register
  2. COVID-19 – Retired [Member] – available to any current BIOS ‘Retired’ member on the COVID-19 Temporary Register
  3. COVID-19 – Final Year Student – available to any current BIOS ‘Student’ member on the COVID-19 Temporary Register (Students). Final year Orthoptics students who are not currently BIOS members can sign up for free here.

More information on the HCPC’s COVID-19 Temporary Register can be found here: https://www.hcpc-uk.org/covid-19/temporary-register/

‘Non-Practising Members’: If you are currently a non-practising member of BIOS and are returning to practice in this period, please contact the office directly and we will upgrade your membership for the next six months.
