The Clinical Council for Eye Health Commissioning (CCEHC) has recently published its priorities for implementing the NHS Long Term Plan.
The Long Term Plan has the potential to address many of the most significant challenges facing eye health services, stemming from capacity pressures and the fragmentation of care pathways. The CCHEC has developed some of the changes required to address these challenges, aligning with the ambitions of the Plan.
This includes implementing the System and Assurance Framework for Eye-health (SAFE), which looks to support the coordination and commissioning of eye heath services at the level of Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships (STPs), Integrated Care Systems (ICS), or equivalent.
The CCEHC have also published their strategy for 2019-21 and documentation on the implementation of SAFE, both available on the College of Optometrists website:
